Summer’s coming and American craft brewers are addressing things  with an intriguing roster of new releases you’re gonna want to have around as things heat up.

Balancing Act (Chico, CA) – Lagers leave little place to hide, so the beer’s balance and mouthfeel matter. And Sierra Nevada recently returned a terrific summer seasonal that succeeds on several levels. Deftly balanced, yet not at the cost of its complexity, Sierra Nevada Summerfest is a 5% ABV American-Style Pilsner which was crafted using Munich, pilsner and two-row pale malts that offset a fragrant and spicy mix of Magnum, Saphir, Tettnang and Tradition hops.

“We’re best known for hop-forward beers like IPAs, but when the weather gets warm, there’s nothing like Summerfest. It’s refreshing and crisp but with the same high-quality you’d expect from any of our beers,” says Brian Grossman, Chief Technical Officer and second-generation brewery owner. “Summerfest is a delicate and complex pilsner inspired by the classic Czech style. It hits the spot on a summer day.”

Get Lost (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has a new addition to its year-round roster that was inspired by “Graffiti Highway,” an abandoned stretch of road that became a Pennsylvania landmark. Just a short trip from the brewery, this abandoned stretch of road was once a Pennsylvania counter-culture hot spot, a gathering place for like-minded artists to contribute to a colorful mosaic in an otherwise fading landscape.

A homage to that landmark that was buried forever in 2020,Tröegs Graffiti Highway is a 6% ABV India Pale Ale with bright citrus, and tropical fruit notes. Like many of Tröegs’ beers, this IPA started as a series of test batches through the brewery’s Research & Development brewhouse known as the Scratch Lab.

“The Scratch Lab is a 3-barrel system that allows us to test hop combinations, times and temperatures side-by-side,” says Tröegs Brewing Manger Tim Mayhew. “We’re able to taste the nuances of these trials and find new inspirations.”

Get Wild (Juneau, AK) – Alaskan Brewing has a new addition to its year-round lineup that we are wild about. Crafted using Alaska’s frigid temperatures for its unique cold fermentation process, Alaskan WILDNESS is a 5% ABV Golden Ale that was made in the cold for the people that live there.

“WILDNESS is for those who want a taste of adventure,” said Maxwell Rule, Chief Operating Officer of Alaskan Brewing Company. “This beer is an exciting new release, unlike any other for our brewery, giving seasoned Alaskan Brewing fans and beer lovers across the country a taste of the adventurous lifestyle of the Last Frontier.”
