Spring is just around the corner and American brewers are addressing things with a whole new roster of beers that you’re gonna want to have around.
Get Lucky (Bend, OR) – 10 Barrel Brewing has just released a new take on a Japanese classic, that after earning well-deserved reputation as a taproom fav is finally seeing wider distribution.
Brewed for those nights when karaoke starts to sound like a good idea, 10 Money Cat (best beer name ever!) is a 4.8% ABV Japanese-inspired Rice Lager, a crisp amalgamation of subtle sweetness, mild bitterness, moderate carbonation, that should pair brilliantly with spring’s arrival.
Trouble Times Two (Hershey, PA) – Just in time to fight the winter doldrums, Tröegs Independent Brewing has released a terrific spin on Nugget Nectar, its iconic Amber Ale. An uber-limited release built around one of Nugget Nectar’s key ingredients, Simcoe hops, Tröegs Double Nugget Nectar is a 9.5% ABV Imperial Amber Ale with complex notes of apricot, peach rings and juicy orchard fruit.

“My favorite meeting is with our Scratch Beer creative team,” said brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner. “That’s where we came up with the concept of Double Nugget. Bringing this beer to life proved to be a fun balancing act. Built around Simcoe hops, one of Nugget Nectar’s key ingredients, Double Nugget exhibits bold notes of apricot, peach rings and bright citrus.”
