Pint Craft, The Craft Beer Drinking Game

Everyone likes a good drinking game, but most can agree that craft brews are not necessarily the smartest choice for hours of beer pong, flip cup, and waterfall. However, before you sigh heavily and reach for that can of carbonated swill, stop and read this article! Christmas is here, craft beer aficionados, and it comes in the form of Pint Craft. This craft beer card game, the brainchild of Ann Arbor entrepreneur Nick Helmholdt, will revolutionize the way you and your fellow craft beer fanatics compete.

Parish Grand Reserve

Something unique happened in Louisiana recently. No, another cliché reality show did not start taping, but rather a local brewery released a special bottle that created a mad rush to the store during lunch breaks across the southern part of the state. Broussard, LA's Parish Brewing finally sent its long-awaited Grand Reserve to stores in the last week of November.

A Swillin’ and Grillin’ Texas Pub

As a foodie, I'll admit, one of the first things that enticed me to check out Jack Mac's Swill & Grill in Plano (a suburb of Dallas) was the Ron Swanson pizza - what's not to love about a meat-overloaded pie!? But what keeps me, and many others, coming back is the fact that the American pub and pizza joint consistently has one of the best selections of Texas beer on draft. When I hear about a new beer out in the market, it's not long before I see a tweet of a tap handle from the pub with that brew's name on it.

Big Wood, Bold Beer: A Barrel-Aged Beer Festival

On December 6, Brouwer's Café in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood kicked off its annual wood-aged beer festival Big Wood. This suggestively named weekend featured 62 barrel-aged beers on tap, from American Brewing Company's Stupid Sexy Flankers with Raspberry to Upright Brewing's Apricot/Brett Seven. Of special note this year were five beers from local breweries that were aged in Wheat Whiskey barrels from Dryfly, a craft distillery in Spokane, WA. Brouwer's distributed the Dryfly barrels to the breweries specifically for the Big Wood fest, and these beers were served at Big Wood for the first time. These included the Big Time Old Sol Wheatwine, Black Raven "Mr. Kitty" Blueberry Pale Ale on Nitro, Elliott Bay Lake City No Doubt Stout, Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout, and the Fremont B-Bomb.
