So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

Five Boro Beer Bash (Long Island City, NY) – New York City’s growing craft beer culture will be on full display tonight (4/25) when the 2014 Five Boro Craft Beer Fest kicks off at Studio Square in Long Island City in Queens. This evening event will feature more than 100 beers from 30+ breweries – all from the five boroughs of the city. There will be live music, a homebrewing competition, food from some great local restaurants, and appearances by all kinds of names from the region’s exciting brewing community. For tickets and a complete list of everybody coming, check out:  Five Boro Craft Beer Fest

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – April 25, 2014On The Big Screen – Camille Delamarre’s Brick Mansions opens this weekend and is a remake of the French cult favorite, District B13. It’s also the last film appearance for Fast & Furious star Paul Walker, who died in a racing car shortly after this film was completed. In his last film, Walker plays an undercover Detroit cop who navigates a treacherous dystopian walled neighborhood searching out a deranged crime lord whose plans could devastate the entire city.

Big Sky Beer (Billings, MT) – We’re big fans of Montana’s growing craft beer scene. And they’ll be showcasing their spring seasonals tonight (4/25) when the Montana Brewers Association presents the second annual Montana Brewers Spring Fest at Metrapark in Billings. This evening event will feature the largest-ever collection of Montana-brewed beer, with more than 70 offerings from the region’s most exciting new breweries. For ticket information and a complete listing of all the beers they’ll be serving up, check out: 2014 Montana Brewers Spring Fest

TV Time – Some say that the Golden Age of Television began over a decade ago with James Gandolfini in a bathrobe chasing ducks out of his suburban New Jersey backyard. With the debut of The Sopranos  and during the roughly 10-year period that followed, television experienced a sea of change and went from being as Grantland puts it, “cinema’s idiot brother to the last auteur-driven mass medium.” And now Matt Weiner’s Mad Men, one of this era’s most evocative and defining dramas, has returned for what will be its final season.

Season 7 begins in January 1969 and finds the brilliant but troubled advertising executive, Don Draper (John Hamm) on a forced sabbatical from the company he co-founded, lost and looking for answers in all the wrong places. This is television as art and should not be missed.

Our Awesome Weekend Beer Pick

The Flying Dog Brewery has just released the first beer from their Brewhouse Rarities Series to become a year-round offering. Flying Dog Easy IPA is a low-ABV hop bomb with a huge grapefruit and spice nose and a crisp malt backbone that’s brewed to be paired with another.
