The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – July 13, 2016
Yikes, It’s July already… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that!

Big Beer Biz Comings & Goings (Cooperstown, NY / Chico, CA) – Big changes at Ommegang and Sierra Nevada. In the east, Duvel Moortgat USA has announced that Doug Campbell, a 12-year beer and spirits industry veteran, will be joining Brewery Ommegang as President effective August 1st. In the west, Sierra Nevada’ Brewmaster (and ACB fav) Steve Dressler has announced that he’ll be retiring in early 2017.
Words To Drink By (Springfield, OR) – “Now son, you don’t want to drink beer…That’s for Daddies, and kids with fake IDs.”
Homer Simpson – Advice to Bart.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we hit up something we recently received from Gonzo’s BiggDogg Brewing. Magic Trick Hefeweizen is a 6% ABV award-winning Wheat Ale with a balanced fruity spiciness and an almost fluorescent hazy glow.
