The Samuel Adams crew have thrown open the doors to the brewery’s newly-constructed tap room, that promises to become Boston’s newest craft beer destination.
Boston Beer’s coolly elegant Brewery Tap Room also connects to a new experimental barrel-aging center that extends the Sam Adams footprint into the historic Haffenreffer Brewery, a pre-Prohibition brewery originally built in 1871.
Beer pilgrims who visit Samuel Adam’s new uber-cool setting can explore a rotating array of experimental offerings as well as legends like their Boston Lager or future legends like the final recipe of Boston Beer’s highly anticipated Samuel Adams New England IPA
Additionally, beer lovers will be able to purchase crowlers of select beers on tap…And then there’s the Bier Keller to explore!
Sam Adam’s ‘Bier Keller’ (that’s beer cellar in German) extends from the new taproom into the space that was once used for cellaring beer by the Haffenreffer Brewery back in the 1800’s.
A dark and temperature-controlled environment, the Bier Keller is now Boston Beer’s inner sanctum for experimental barrel-aged beers and will allow visitors the opportunity to sample the beers as part of something they call the Samuel Adams Barrel Aged Experience.
The beers currently aging in the Bier Keller include a huge variety of developing experimentals including barrel-aged Barleywines creations, wood-aged Saisons, and Scotch Ales marinating in scotch whiskey barrels.
The new Bier Keller is an entirely separate operation from Samuel Adams’ original Barrel Room, which will continue to house barrel-aged sours and wild ales like Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru, and it’s still open to the public for the Beyond the Brewhouse Experience.
