Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A Thing

, Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A Thing

Craft beer and cuisine pairings are all the rage nowadays and are celebrated widely… cookie and craft beer pairings…not so much. But for the last two years Frederick, Maryland-based Flying Dog Brewery has been championing the nascent “craft beer and cookie” movement (yep, it’s a movement now) – and the winter holidays are the perfect time to do it.

, Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A ThingFlying Dog is a beloved and iconoclastic brewery in the Mid-Atlantic, defined by great beer and brilliant imaging (Ralph Steadman… or God’s sake!)  And they’re known for doing what they want, when they want. They’re not shy about naming their beers (Raging Bitch, Pearl Necklace anyone?)…Nor do they think that paring options need to stop at the obvious.

In spite of rampant anti-smoking sentiment, Flying Dog would not be deterred and chose to release a serious beer and fine cigar collection in 2014 that was brave and conceptually brilliant…

And this year they’re returning to craft beer and cookies.

Working with Baltimore’s legendary Otterbein’s Bakery, they’ve released the Flying Dog Holiday Collection – a seasonal 12-pack that pairs four traditional Otterbein’s cookies with four unique craft beers specially brewed to pair with a specific cookie.

, Craft Beer And Cookies – Yeah It’s A ThingThe 6.1% ABV Citrus Saison was brewed to pair perfectly with the bakery’s classic Sugar cookie and the citrusy Cranberry IPA with their Lemon Sugar crisp.

Their fragrant Belgian Style Pale Ale was brewed to bring out the best in Otterbein’s delicious Orange and White Chocolate Chip cookie and their 8.3% Fig & Fennel Stout (our favorite!) onlygot better with additional bites of the bakery’s chewy Oatmeal Raison.

The Flying Dog Holiday Collection is a true paradigm shifter and its available now all throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

So yes, cookies and craft beer are officially “a thing” and this 12-pack is “a thing” worth travelling for. Because craft beer and cookies have truly arrived – especially at this time of year.
