When BrewDog USA first approached us about its growing family of N/A beers we were skeptical. Not only were we not sure that any craft brewery could deliver a truly convincing alcohol-free beer, we weren’t exactly craving a buzz-free beer to begin with.
But the PR rep who approached us was insistent that we’d be surprised by what BrewDog USA was doing and sent us some samples that sat around our office for a while until they didn’t.
We’ve been covering craft beer’s emerging N/A scene in our twice weekly new beer compendiums for a while now. We had to because the sector was growing so fast that it couldn’t be ignored.
But in spite of the platform we gave them, we hadn’t personally tried any until BrewDog sent us five of its N/A beers.
And you know what? BrewDog delivered on its promise, these beers tasted like beer. And despite of our pronounced preference for beer with mood-enhancing qualities, they found a late-afternoon spot in our office, when we still had things that had to be done and we needed to be clear-headed about.
