Best Beer Promotions: The Miller Lite 50,000 Beers Giveaway

Miller Lite is celebrating its golden anniversary on “International Beer Day” with the “Ultimate Birthday Toast.”

Here’s the deal…

Billed as “50 Years, 50 States and 50,000 Beers on them,” Molson Coors is orchestrating, what may be the biggest national toast ever, with bars across the United States joining in on the celebration along with a special “beer drop” at the Miller Brewery in Milwaukee.

But that’s just the beginning…

On August 1, ( International Beer Day), Miller Lite will give away 50,000 beers coast-to-coast with a communal toast in each time zone at 4:50 pm (“for” the “50th” – get it?).

“For the 50th anniversary, we wanted to create a celebration with fans that matches the  legendary status of the Original Light Beer,” Global Vice President for the Miller Family of Brands Ann Legan said. “So we thought big. By giving away 50,000 Miller Lites, we’re toasting to 50 years of great memories – and the many more memories we will make in the next 50 years.”

The Miller Brewery will kick off a countdown to the national cheers on August 1 with a larger-than-life 6-pack of Miller Lite. NYE-style countdowns with the cans will drop at precisely 4:50 p.m. local time for each of the six different time zones across the country.

The announcement of the nationwide toast was kicked off by Miller Lite superfan Luke Combs, who toasted the brand on his social channels, reinforcing that the beer was all about “bringing people together,” which is what this promotion intends to do.

“The 50th anniversary is more than just a milestone for Miller Lite,” Legan added, “it’s a celebration of our fans and the five decades we’ve spent together enjoying ‘Miller Time’.

“We’re excited to raise a glass to the Original Light Beer and, cheers to many more years of memories.”
