The Longest Night (Hood River, OR) – Full Sail Brewing has just returned something special that they brew every year to celebrate the winter solstice. From its pitch black pour to its lacy tan head, Full Sail Shortest Day Winter Ale is a 6.6% ABV Cascadian Dark Ale with sweet floral notes and a generous complement of Mosaic, Simcoe and Citra hops.
A Beer Worth Shilling (St Paul, MN) – Summit Brewing has a new Union Series release which celebrates the union of modern and experimental ingredients with time-honored brewing traditions and authentic 19th-century recipe. Brewed with Bairds Scottish ale malt as a base, roasted malts from England’s oldest floor maltings, and Head Brewer Damian McConn’s pure Irish passion, Summit 120 Shilling Export Scotch Ale is a 9.5% ABV malt-forward masterpiece that’s a loving homage to the traditional beers of Scotland that McConn enjoyed as a young brewing student in Edinburgh.
Pale Ales Brewed For Brewers And You (San Francisco, CA) – Anchor Brewing just released the latest from its evolving hop series that was “brewed by brewers, for brewers.” Crisp and quaffable, with bright tangerine, Meyer lemon and melon aromatics, Brewers’ Pale Ale Citra Hop Blend is a 5.3% ABV limited release that’s available now in 6-pack bottles and on draft at select locations such as the Anchor Public Taps and the Anchor Brewing Taproom in San Francisco.
Darkness Cometh (Minneapolis, MN) – What November loses in light, it gains in darkness, and Surly Brewing has the right beer for that….Crafted from the second runnings of Darkness wort (Surly’s Russian Imperial Stout) Damien Child of Darkness Ale is a 6.5% ABV American Black Ale with insidious tangerine/pine aromatics and dark notes of roasted malt and brown sugar.
Das Boot (Baltimore, MD) – Heavy Seas Beer has a new Uncharted Waters Series release that’s the strongest beer they’ve ever done. Inspired by Antarctic exploration and the boats that made that grueling trek, Heavy Seas Schnee Boot (Snow Boat ) is a massive 13% ABV Bourbon Barrel-Aged Eisbock that’s tundra-ready and then some.
