March is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with exciting new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
Yakima Valley Born (Hershey, PA) –Tröegs Independent Brewing has transitioned a fun spring release that began as a Small Batch Series project to its newest year-round release. Built upon a sturdy foundation of Pennsylvania-grown Rustic pale malt from nearby Double Eagle, Tröegs LolliHop, is an 8.2% ABV Imperial IPA with a slightly hazy character, bright notes of pear, citrus and a hint of melon, as well as otherworldly label art from Baltimore, MD-based artist and Art of Tröegs alum, Devin Watson.
“The inspiration for LolliHop begins in the hop fields of Yakima Valley, Washington, during the brewery’s annual pilgrimage to this hop-growing hotbed,” explains Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster, John Trogner. “There’s only a handful of beers that have an ‘a-ha’ origin, and LolliHop is one of them,” says John Trogner, “Hop selection is key in finding the right Citra hops, and we build upon that with Azacca’s bright pear and melon notes.”
Tripped Up (Atlanta, GA) – SweetWater Brewing Company, the 10th largest craft brewer in the US, has an exciting new year-round addition to its portfolio that pays tribute to the bold, hoppy beers SweetWater brought to the South more than 25 years ago. Assertively hopped with Cascade, Centennial, Crystal, Chinook and Citra, SweetWater Gone Trippin’ is a 7% ABV West Coast-Style India Pale Ale with a sturdy malt backbone, big pine, citrus and floral aromatics and a refreshingly dry finish.
“We’re getting back to our roots and absolutely stoked to release this hoppy love letter to Cali, wrapped in a funky tie dyed can,” said Nick Nock, SweetWater’s head brewer. “Gone Trippin’ is a big, yet easy drinking beer that’s incredibly balanced. It’s perfectly bitter, it’s hoppy, but it’s also rounded out with a malty sweetness.”
99 And Just Fine To Our Mind (Chippewa Falls, WI) – Leinenkugel’s has a new spring seasonal that delivers tons of flavor and only 99 calories. Crafted with real lemon juice and locally sourced honey Leinenkugel’s Honey Lemon Light is a 4% ABV American Lager with a refreshingly light and sweet finish.
