2023 is just around the corner and American craft brewers are addressing the upcoming year with exciting new beers you’re gonna want to have around.
Wookey Jack Is Back (Venice, CA) – One of Firestone Walker’s most legendary beers which won a Gold medal in the GABF’s American-Style Black Ale category in 2020, returns for a seasonal run (this time in 12oz cans) and getting its first nationwide distribution since it was originally retired in late 2016.
A unique twist on the Cascadian Dark Ale style, Firestone Walker Wookey Jack is award-winning 8.3% ABV Black Rye IPA with a big, toasty malted rye profile and a balanced bite on the finish. The latest edition remains faithful to the original recipe, which includes loads of pearled dark malts with rye adding a rustic grain element. The hops are dank, sticky Citra and pungent Amarillo, both of which are incorporated into a massive dry-hop regimen.
“The Wookey never dies—it just hibernates,” said Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “We’ve produced periodic small-batch runs over the years, and people keep asking for more. It’s time to release it back into the wild.”
One Of The Most Anticipated New Beers of 2023 (Portland, Me) – When a brewery renowned for its allegiance White Wheat Ales and Saisons, decides to introduce its first ever year-round IPA you’ve definitely gotten our attention.
Developed over the course of seven months by the brewery’s pilot team, Allagash Hop Reach IPA is a citrusy and tropical 6.8% ABV India Pale Ale with just the right snap of bitterness at the finish. Available in January everywhere where Allagash beers are sold, the brewery’s newest addition to its 2023 lineup comes in 12oz and 16oz cans as well as on draft.
Seeing Japanese (Boulder, CO) – Upslope Brewing has an exciting new addition to its 2023 year-round line-up that made its first appearance last year as an International Lager Series limited release. Crafted with flaked rice which both lightens and brightens its body, Upslope Japanese Style Lager is a crisp and ultra-drinkable 4.9% ABV refresher with a delicate effervescence and a bone dry finish.
