July is ON and American craft brewers are celebrating things with an ever-changing roster of beers that match the moment.
‘Tis The Seasonal (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has an interesting new addition that joins the brewery’s lineup of seasonally rotating beers alongside classics such as Field Study and Blizzard of Hops.
Taking its cue from the bold, hop-forward beers that emerged in the early days of the craft beer movement, Tröegs Leaf Seeker is a 6.4% ABV West Coast Style IPA built on the kind sturdy backbone that has helped define the style.
“West Coast IPAs are experiencing a recent renaissance of sorts,” explains Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “With Leaf Seeker, we wanted to connect the dots between those big, hoppy IPAs from California and Colorado with our own East Coast culture.”
And like many of Tröegs’ beers, Leaf Seeker began in the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest’s Yakima Valley.
“We go to the Yakima Valley every year to make sure we get the right hops,” Trogner added “To me, it’s the most important ingredient selection we do. We have so many hop-forward beers, so the stakes are high. The most recent trip yielded an abundance of Citra, Chinook, and El Dorado hops, all of which combine to infuse Leaf Seeker with notes of sticky citrus, dank pine, and tropical fruit.”

Bold, Buzz-Free & Bottled In Italy (Rome) – Peroni Nastro Azzurro is a premium pilsner beer from the brewery, Peroni di Roma which is brewed using the original recipe since 1963. And Peroni 0.0% arrives to the US as a growing number of Americans are increasingly seeking out low- or no-alcohol options.
“Peroni 0.0% was brewed with an innovative dealcoholization process to deliver the superior taste that customers expect from Peroni Nastro Azzurro,” Cara Lauritzen, senior marketing manager for Peroni said. ‘Some 90% of consumers we tested agreed it matches our full-alc beer better than competitors.”
