, 3 Anheuser-Busch ‘Craft’ Taprooms Close After Employees Test Positive For COVID-19

To be fair, these kinds of incidents aren’t limited to Anheuser-Busch owned properties. As taprooms attempt to open safely, instances such as these are bound to happen.

All three taprooms which, are run as part of AB InBev’s Brewers Collective division, had only recently reopened…

Wicked Weed Brewing

On July 6 Wicked Weed’s Funkatorium, in Asheville, closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The employee last was on the premises July 1.

This statement from Wicked Weed…

The health and safety of our customers, team members, and our Asheville community remains our number one priority. It’s our responsibility to remain transparent with our community so we want to bring you this update regarding a temporary closure of our Funkatorium location.

We unfortunately learned that one of our Funkatorium employees has tested positive for COVID-19, so out of extreme caution we are temporarily closing this location. This will allow us time to perform a thorough cleaning and sanitation. The employee is working with the Buncombe County Public Health Department to conduct contact tracing.

All of our locations have and will continue to follow all local government and health officials’ guidelines and precautions, and we can confirm that our food and beer have not been affected. We feel this is the best decision at this time to ensure safety of our guests and staff.

We thank all of you for your support, understanding, and patience as we ensure the safety and health of our staff in the Asheville community.

According to the Citizen Times “internal contact tracing has revealed no exposure risk to other employees or customers.”

Wicked Weed’s downtown brewpub remains open.

Platform Brewing

On July 5 Platform Beer Company shuttered its taprooms in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio after an employee who had been at both locations tested positive for COVID-19.

This from Platform’s social media announcement….

To our guests:

We unfortunately learned this morning that one of our Cleveland-based employees had tested positive for COVID-19 and had recently worked out of the Cleveland and Columbus taprooms, so we are temporarily closing those locations. Out of an abundance of caution due to heightened risk of COVID-19 in the state, we are choosing to temporarily close our Phunkenship location as well.

These temporary closures will allow us time to perform a thorough cleaning and sanitation of all our locations. All our taprooms have and will continue to follow all local government and health officials’ guidelines and precautions, and we can confirm that our food and beer have not been affected.

We feel this is the best decision at this time to ensure safety of our guests and staff.

We thank all of you for your support, understanding, and patience as we ensure the safety and health of our staff and our Columbus and Cleveland communities.

Karbach Brewing

Heading into the 4th of July Karbach Brewing, which was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev since 2016, closed its restaurant and patio, following an employee testing positive.

This from the Houston, Texas-based brewery’s July 3rd announcement…

To our guests:

Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily closing Karbach Brewing Restaurant and Patio and Biergarten following an employee testing positive for COVID-19. This will allow us time to perform a thorough cleaning, sanitation, and contact tracing following guidance from health authorities.

We wanted to bring you this update to ensure full transparency in light of recent COVID-19 concerns in our area. We are working closely with the local health authorities to ensure we continue to meet and exceed all safety guidelines for our employees and guests.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we ensure the safety and health of our staff and our Houston community.

We’ll see you soon. Stay safe!

As of publications all three venues remained closed.
