Yikes, It’s June already… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.
Walmart Introduces Its Own Craft Beer Brand (Bentonville, AR) – What’s next…dogs sleeping with cats? Retail discount giant, Walmart, has been quietly rolling out their own craft beer brand in a 12-pack featuring four different styles with horrible names like Red Flag Amber and Cat’s Away IPA. According to Business Insider the beers are being brewed by Rochester, New York-based Trouble Brewing who evidently don’t have anything better to do.
Super Expensive / Super Weak Beer Spurs Anger At Euro Games (Marseille, France) – We all know that beer sold at pro sports in the states can be pricey, but at least you can grab a buzz. Pissed off attendees to this summer’s Euro 2016 soccer games are tweeting that the only beer available in the stadium is a 0.5% Carlsberg that will cost you €7. The diluted brew is apparently intended to prevent soccer fans from getting too unruly but may be having the opposite effect.
Words To Drink By (Fort Collins, CO) – “One of the things that vibrant organizations have to do, is change.”
– Kim Jordan – New Belgium Brewing
Houston’s Beer Community Humiliates A Shamed Windy City (USA) – According to a new data drop from market research firm IRI Houston is now drinking a lot more beer than a “once competitive” Chicago…Just sayin’.
Sierra Nevada Gets Big-time LEED Designation (Mills River, NC) – Sierra Nevada has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum status, for its Mills River, North Carolina, brewing facility. Long known for their commitment to environmental sustainability, Sierra Nevada closely adhered to LEED guidelines all throughout the construction process, resulting in the brewery’s “best-in-class” designation – the only U.S. production brewery with this level of certification.
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night we hit up something we recently received from Left Hand Brewing. Introduced just last year, Left Hand’s Introvert Session IPA is a 4.8% ABV hop-forward India Pale Ale that’s drinks big and doesn’t crush you…
