THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITS

We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates – things were pretty much done. But clearly all that’s changed.

So here’s some of what’s happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying your long Labor Day Weekend.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER – QUICK HITSCity With The Most Breweries In The Nation To Get More In 2015 (Portland, OR) – It appears that when it rains, it pours in Portland .The New School is reporting that the city that already has more breweries than any other place in the country, will be getting at least twelve more by the end of this year. For the complete “inside skinny” on who’s starting up what and when, check out A Dozen New Breweries. You can thank us later.

From The “Not Sure That We Need This” Department (Vancouver, Canada) – Canadian company, Lolo Lids, has developed a cozy that disguises a beer can as a lidded cup of coffee (think Starbucks). So now you can enjoy a beer out in public, while you’re chowing down on your morning Egg McMuffin. Not sure that we need this but still…

Words To Drink By (Washington, DC) – “The problem with Internet quotations is that many are not genuine.”

The Craft Beer Distribution Dance Continues (USA) – Everyone’s going everywhere and expanding into different markets- and here’s the latest on that. AleSmith is now working with Wirtz Beverage and distributing their awesome beer in 52 Illinois counties, including Chicagoland metro. And (we can’t remember if we told you this or not, but just in case we didn’t) – Oskar Blues recently began distributing their year-rounds in Arkansas and West Virginia – so there’s that.

Spilled Beer Leads To Fatal Shooting (Sauget, IL) – Can’t we all just take a step back on occasion? The New York Daily News is reporting that a customer who had a beer accidently spilled on him at a gas station continence store, fatally shot a St Louis man who was on a beer run with friends early Saturday.
