The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening while you were acting like you were working at home…

Rising COVID-19 Numbers Force California To Reclose (Sacramento, CA) – On July 13, Governor Gavin Newsom mandated a statewide shutdown of indoor restaurants, tasting rooms, breweries and bars due to a spike in coronavirus cases.

According to an update on the state’s website  “Bars, brewpubs, breweries, and pubs must close all operations both indoor and outdoor statewide, unless they are offering sit-down, outdoor dine-in meals. Alcohol can only be sold in the same transaction as a meal.”

Effective July 13, 2020, ALL counties in California must close indoor operations in these sectors:

  • Dine-in restaurants
  • Wineries and tasting rooms
  • Movie theaters
  • Family entertainment centers (for example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages and arcades)
  • Zoos and museums
  • Cardrooms

California has now confirmed over 325,000 coronavirus cases, and registered 7,000 deaths. Intensive care units are operating at or above maximum capacity. The recent rise in Covid-19 cases has been linked to the phased reopening of indoor venues like shops, restaurants, bars, breweries and gyms in the state.

Words To Drink By (Windsor, CA) – “Having to partially shut down again is very disappointing but not unexpected. We are willing to do whatever is recommended to help slow the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19.” Natalie and Vinnie Cirluzo, co-Founders Russian River Brewing

Sierra Nevada Keep Taprooms Closed For Foreseeable Future (Chico, CA/Fletcher, NC) – Reflecting the lingering impact of COVID-19, Sierra Nevada Brewing, which operate breweries in both California and North Carolina, has announced that it will be keeping its taprooms, gift shops and brewery tours closed  at least until October.

This from Sierra Nevada’s Facebook announcement…

We got into this business to make great beer and share it with our friends. So it’s been tough not having you all in our Taprooms, Gift Shops, Tours and Torpedo Room.

We had hoped and planned to reopen this month and couldn’t wait to finally have a beer together. But over these past few weeks, we’ve seen cases of COVID-19 take a turn for the worse nationwide.

While we would love to have you all over, it wouldn’t be the right thing to do. We’ve decided to keep our doors closed with a targeted reopening in October…

Take care – we can’t wait to have you back for a beer.
