Well, it’s still not over, but more states are lifting restrictions a little and people have begun to crawl out of their homes to toast the ‘new normal.’
And we’ve more fun new releases that should pair smartly with your weekend.
Berry Good (Juneau, Alaska) – Alaskan Brewing has a new Alaskan Pilot Series release that showcases the bright and bountiful berries of Alaska and then shakes things up. Crafted with fresh strawberries and blackberries that add a fruity sweet and tangy ambience to the beer’s creamy vanilla base, Alaskan Berry Milkshake IPA is a 7% ABV lactose-rich India Pale Ale with just enough sweetness to balance out the bitterness of the hops.”
“Our concept was to make a milkshake IPA that first and foremost was still an IPA,” said Alaskan Quality Assurance Analyst Blake Hass, who worked with Brewer Greg Morgan on the first experimental versions of the beer. “We wanted it to have complex layered flavors, where you would taste the hoppy IPA qualities up front, and then the fruit flavors would fill in with vanilla rounding out the finish.”
A Beer With Game (Atlanta, GA) – Second Self Beer Company has a new addition to its year-round portfolio that was inspired by the great video games of yore. Fueled on a smart menu of Citra, Mosaic, and Centennial hops and a nostalgic sense of fun, Second Self Game Night IPA is a 6% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale with big papaya, mango, and citrus notes and an uber-creamy mouthfeel.
Viking Primed (Akureyri, Iceland) – Iceland’s leading craft brewery, Einstök Beer Company has a sessionable new limited release inspired by the vibrant flavors of the classic Gin & Tonic. Available now at select US retailers, Einstök Lime & Juniper Pils is a 4.8% ABV Pilsner brewed with Noble hops, locally sourced Icelandic Juniper berries, pure glacial waters and just the right touch of lime.
Coconut Haze The Next Craze? (Salt Lake City / Denver) – Epic Brewing has a nutty new limited release that’s now in 22oz bottles and 16oz cans. With coconut added twice, once on the brew kettle and again in the fermenter, Epic Put the IPA in the Coconut is an 8.5% ABV Imperial Hazy IPA with big tropical flavors that are accentuated by a flaked oat grain bill and massive amounts of Cashmere, Styrian Dragon and Citra hops.
