It happens every year. Halloween passes and you still have that Costco bag of trick-or-treat candy laying around the house…And with COVID-19 still lurking around you’ve less trick-or-treaters (and more leftover candy) than ever.
What to do?
You don’t smoke pot anymore so you probably don’t need them for late-night binging. Then we suggest you take a more sophisticated route….

Arrogant Bastard Ale and Tootsie Rolls
Great beers and classic candies can become overly familiar over time and get unfairly overlooked …And that goes for both the American Tootsie Roll (first launched in 1896) and Stone Brewing’s Arrogant Bastard (1996).
So now’s the time to bring them both together in a stylish pairing celebration of two classics, that clearly complement one another, and more than deserve their due.
For extra heft consider the Double Bastard Ale adding additional Tootsie Rolls as needed.
Hefeweizens and Candy Corn
The Hefeweizen has have been making a comeback of late and all that candy corn you found at the bottom of you trick-or-treat bag unfortunately never seems to go away
But the good news is that these unavoidable corn syrup remnants pair brilliantly with these classic wheat ales and their welcome banana and clove notes.
Some craft beer and candy pairing aficionados suggest marinating the candy corn in the Hefeweizen for 24 hours and then snorting them. But we’re not sure you want to go there.
Lambics and Skittles
Lambics go best with tart and fruity candy like Skittles. But SweeTarts and Jolly Ranchers will also do in a crunch. And we like to pair them with Portland, Maine-based Allagash Brewing’s Coolship Cerise, but any Lambic from ester King will also suffice.
Important: Some Lambics can be extremely tart, so we strongly suggest that for optimum results, you enjoy them with a mouthful of pre-ground Skittles.
Russian Imperial Stouts and Peanut M&M’s
If you’re a seasoned craft beer and candy enthusiast you already know that complementing a serious Russian Imperial Stout with fresh Peanut M&M’s is a marriage made in heaven.
And not surprisingly we’ve also found that most stouts pair fantastically with even more stouts.
