BrewDog, BrewDog Reykjavik Opens In Iceland

Scotland’s renegade brewer has opened international outposts in some pretty amazing places, but the launch of Iceland’s BrewDog Reykjavik may have set a new standard for serious beer in a mind-blowing location.

Here’s the deal…

With the opening of their eighteenth international bar BrewDog has brought its beer, brand and punk swagger to the “Land of Fire and Ice” and not surprisingly it feels like a marriage made in Valhalla.

The most northern capital in the world, Iceland is a spectacular setting and home to everything from geo-thermally heated rivers and lakes to the otherworldly vistas that HBO’s Game of Thrones used so ably in its epic fantasy.

And given that Icelanders are descendants of Viking stock, and that they like to drink hearty, and they like to beer, maybe the question should be…what took BrewDog so long?

Located on the corner of Frakkastígur and Hverfisgata, BrewDog Reykjavik sits in the heart of a city famed for its striking architecture and sweeping coastal views.

In fact anyone walking from the country’s famous shoreline Sun Voyager sculpture, up to the towering white Hallgrímskirkja church (or vice versa), will wander directly past BrewDog’s new diggs.

Once inside the sleek Nordic enclave, you’ll find GM Thor (there’s a lot of Thors in Iceland) and his crew waiting with 20 taps of craft beer from BrewDog and their friends, along with a selection of local Icelandic craft brews and mead (perfect for keeping the cold at bay).

“Reykjavik has long been in our sights as it continues to grow into a hub for kickass, exciting craft beer. We couldn’t be happier to finally provide an Icelandic outpost for the craft beer community to enjoy flavorful, bold beer, and help accelerate the city’s craft beer scene.’

“Our mission is to make other people as passionate about craft beer as we are the world over, and we hope that opening the doors to this latest bar inspires a new generation of beer evangelists as they delve into the incredible craft beer world of brilliance, passion and experimentation.”

And with almost mythical warnings of ‘winter’s coming,’ BrewDog’s new Icelandic locale is now willing and able to provide…
