BrewDog Australia A Go-Go!
BrewDog Australia A Go-Go!
“People of Australia – we are heading down under to build a brewery for you.”
BrewDog’s James Watt & Martin Dickie
It’s been just short of a year since BrewDog first announced their intentions to build a new brewery ‘down under’ and now that the Brisbane City Council has approved plans for their riverside brewery in Murarrie, this thing is a go!
Here’s the deal…
On Tuesday, Brisbane officials gave BrewDog’s plans for a new brewery in Queensland a big thumbs up and according to their website, the Scottish punk brewers are now locking in “dates to start construction in mid-July.”
BrewDog will invest a total of $30 million in its new riverfront brewery which will include a 50-hectolitre, 3,000 square-meter brewing and canning facility.
The new family and dog friendly brewing campus will also contain a restaurant, taproom and visitor center and is projected to bring more than 150 jobs to the region over the next five years.
They expect construction on the new ‘destination brewery’ to take around six months and they’re adding in an additional to fine-tune the state-of-the-art” facility before they can finally start cranking out beer…But with this final approval things they expect to have things up and funning in the first quarter of 2019.
And it’s not like BrewDog isn’t already brewing in Oz…

BrewDog’s Franz Horak
One of BrewDog’s most seasoned brewers Franz Horak, recently trekked down to Australia where he collaborated with five kick-ass breweries including Brisbane’s Green Beacon, Sydney-based Batch Brewing, Canberra’s Capital Brewing Company, Melbourne’s Hop Nation and Adelaide-based Mismatch Brewing.
Those envelope-pushing collaborations, all brewed with local ingredients, will make their debut at the Beer & BBQ Festivals in Sydney (June 29th – July 1st) and in Adelaide (July 6th-8th).
