Long an almost forgotten category within the broader beer industry, non-alcoholic beer has come into its own with more consumers than ever before embracing buzz-free alternatives. And the non-alcoholic beer sector has seen its growth skyrocket in recent years as big beer giants like Anheuser-Busch and Heineken launch new products alongside the emergence of prominent craft brewers like Athletic Brewing.
The Non-Alcoholic Beer market is projected to generate $35billion in the US in 2023 and Blue Moon Brewing is planning to introduce a non-alcoholic version of its flagship beer later this year.
Planned to debut well before “Dry January” 2024, Blue Moon Non-Alcoholic Belgian White, a Belgian-style Wheat Brew is looking to make waves as consumers seek out more low- and no-alcoholic options.
“Blue Moon changed the way we think about beer, and it’s doing it again, this time in the non-alc segment,” Jamie Wideman, vice president of innovation for Molson Coors told Beer & Beyond.
At under .5% alcohol by volume and only 80 calories, Blue Moon Non-Alcoholic Belgian White is brewed with the same Valencia orange peel that’s made it so immensely popular in the US and Molson Coors is hoping to capture that vibe in its buzz-free variation.
“Consumers know and trust Blue Moon, they enjoy consistent quality and a subtle citrus taste each time they reach for a Blue Moon Belgian White. We are so proud to deliver that same unique experience in the non-alcoholic version,” Wideman added. “As the No. 1 craft brand in the US, Blue Moon has an opportunity to deliver a non-alcoholic craft brew from a brand that drinkers trust.”
