January means winter, so breweries are addressing the season with a variety of intoxicating cold-weather offerings…And we’ve five new craft beer directions that you might need to chase down.

Even More Metal For Doom Forge Day (Austin, TX) – On January 26th Jester King will be launching Doom Forge Day a new event celebrating all things metal. And in addition to a seasoned lineup of Doom Metal bands (Yes!), they’ll be debuting a special collaboration they did with Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø of Evil Twin. Jester King Even More Metal is an 11.4% ABV Farmhouse Imperial Stout that was aged in maple bourbon barrels for more than a year and finished with Ugandan vanilla beans that were smoked in-house. Even More Metal is Jester King’s third collaboration with Evil Twin following World’s Worst Twin (a classic) and Even More Jeppe (also pretty brilliant!).

Beer Trade (Bend, OR) – On January 25th Bend Brewing will debut its first canned release of 2019…and even better, it’s a 16oz can!  Brewed to perfection with 6 different specialty malts and flaked barley, Trade War Export Stout is a 7.5% ABV limited release that Bend Brewing is willing to go to war for.beer, Beer Alert- New Export Stouts, Farmhouse Ales And Doppelbock Lagers

A Darker Direction For Winter (Portland, ME) – Allagash Brewing is renowned for its flagship Belgian style Witbier, Allagash White but they also brew a year-round that takes the proud Belgian tradition in a decidedly darker direction. Brewed with chocolate and black malts that are tempered by a deft medley of Northern Brewer and Glacier hops, Allagash Black is a 7.5% ABV Belgian Pale that for obvious reasons some call a Belgian Stout.

To Celebrate Eight (Alexandria, VA) – Port City Brewing is celebrating eight award-winning years in the biz by doubling down on a classic lager! Malt-forward and russet-colored, Port City Colossal Eight is an 8% ABV German-style Doppelbock with a touch of warmth and sweetness in its finish.
