What many righteously refer to as the “Mother of All Beer Weeks” begins today. And if you haven’t already planned several nights out with your local breweries…We’re pissed at you.
Here’s the deal…
For the 13th year in a row, the Brewers Association has invited us all to stay “Brewnited” and join them in celebration of America’s more than 6,300 small and independent craft brewers.
In fact, we’ve already started drinking here at the American Craft Beer compound and we expect that many of you may have as well.
Starting today and continuing throughout this week (May 14th-20th) the nation’s craft breweries are hosting all kinds of special events including special brewery tours, exclusive beer releases (yes!), serious beer and artisan food dinners, tons of tap takeovers and countless opportunities for America’s craft brewers to share their diversity, their creativity, and their passion, with their beer-loving friends.
American Craft Beer Week came into its own back in 2006, when the Brewers Association changed an annual monthly celebration, American Beer Month, into a week-long coordinated effort scheduled to hit just before the busy summer beer season begins.
A week’s worth of national beer festivities was found to be infinitely more manageable to deal with than trying to oversee and entire month…
And the term ‘craft’ was added for obvious reasons.
American Craft Beer Week has fast become the largest national effort focusing on craft beer in the world and it remains so today.
So you need to take advantage of all the cool things going on in your neighborhoods…no excuses.
The American Craft Beer team will be out and about all week long covering cool beer happenings as they ‘happen.’ So stay plugged into us for the ‘inside skinny’ on fun stuff that might be happening in your neck of the woods.
And please pace yourself this week…we’re begging’ you…
