We are entering into Oktoberfest season and American craft brewers are addressing things with a smart roster of  beers you’re gonna want to have around.

37 Years And Running (San Diego, CA) – – Karl Strauss, SoCal’s first post-Prohibition brewing company, will be returning a classic seasonal to its nine Southern California brewpubs on September 2, for the 37th year in a row,

Brewed a blend of Vienna and Munich hops, along with Perle hops imported from the Hallertau region of Germany. Karl Strauss Oktoberfest is a 5% ABV Lager with toasted malt notes, nutty undertones, and a crisp, clean finish.

“Karl Strauss himself would be proud to know that his classic Oktoberfest Märzen Lager, which was the very first brewed in San Diego back in 1989, is being shared with people for the 37th year in a row,” said Brewmaster Paul Segura. “Our German roots are represented in this true-to-style icon, and we can’t wait to raise a stein full of this beloved beer and start the party this Oktoberfest season.”

Karl Strauss released its first version of an Oktoberfest beer “Blonde Bavarian Oktoberfest Beer” in 1989, the same year the brewery was founded. Blonde Bavarian was part of Karl Strauss’s first Oktoberfest celebration at the brewery’s original location on Columbia Street in Downtown San Diego.

In 2025, Karl Strauss Brewing Company as named Best Craft Brewery and Best Micro Brew Pub in The San Diego Union-Tribune’s San Diego’s Best U-T Readers Poll.

Time to Get Wicked (Asheville, NC) – One of our favorite breweries, Wicked Weed Brewing is very much on the comeback trail after the devastating floods that brought Ashville to its knees last October. And although the brewery is renowned for its Sour Beer production, they also brew a serious Pilsner that was ten years in development.

Righteously crafted using German malts Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops, Wicked Weed Pils is 5.2% ABV Pilsner with a bright, crisp character that gives way to a soft,  pillowy finish.
