Netflix Hit Cobra Kai Returns And So Does Coors Banquet Beer

Nothing helps beer sales like the right product placement in the right entertainment vehicle. And Cobra Kai is a huge Netflix hit!

Here’s the deal…

When Sweetwater’s 420 made a guest appearance in the popular Walking Dead several seasons back, sales spiked. And the same thing happened with Coors Banquet thanks to PROMINENT product placement in Netflix hit Cobra Kai series which features key characters from the Karate Kid movies thirty years later.

Coors Banquet also stars as the beer of choice (and sometimes all-night companion) for failed Karate teacher, John Lawrence, humorously played by William Zabka who was Ralph Macchio’s arch-enemy in the original film series. Down on his luck and stuck in the past, Johnny begins a redemption story and Coors Banquet is never far from his reach.

Cobra Kai has been a huge hit for the steaming service, more than 41 million households tuned into season three when it returned in last year, and Coors Banquet sales saw a pronounced sales spike, according to IRI store data.  Molson Coors, which didn’t seek out a presence on the show, felt it immediately.

“We know ‘Cobra Kai’ fans are just as excited for the new season,” says Rose Bleakley, associate marketing manager for Coors Banquet told Beer & Beyond. “Coors Banquet has been a breakout star on Cobra Kai.’ It’s introduced Banquet to a new generation of fans who we hope will turn into loyal drinkers.

And now with Cobra Kai’s Dec 31st fourth season return, Coors Banquet is pulling out all the stops…

Starting now and running through the end of January, viewers can enter HERE for a chance to win a year’s worth of Coors Banquet, as well as a Coors Banquet-branded bonsai tree, by accurately tallying how many times the beer shows up in the new season.

Five second-place winners will also be awarded a Banquet bonsai tree. Entrants age 21 and up must get within five of the correct answer to qualify for a chance to win.

Coors Banquet also plans to target “Cobra Kai” fans via social media platforms, including the nearly 80,000 who participate in the series’ avid Reddit community.

And the Coors Banquet exposure doesn’t stop with Cobra Kai, it also appears alongside other Molson Coors products in Paramount’s “Yellowstone.”

“We have big plans for 2022, and we’re looking forward to seeing Coors Banquet on TV and elsewhere in culture,” Bleakley added. “This is a chance for millions of people to learn more about why Coors Banquet has been sought after for nearly 150 years.”
