With huge swaths of the American West burning and the nation facing its worst wildfire season in almost 70 years, Coors Banquet Beer is upping its support of the Wildland Firefighters Association in a big way.

Here’s the deal…

When one thinks Coors, more times than not, its flagship Coors Light brand comes to mind. That’s not surprising, after all it’s the second bestselling beer in America, and has been for a while.

But there’s another Coors brand with a rich western heritage, Coors Banquet Beer, which has been brewed for almost 150 years.

“Right now, wildland firefighters are courageously stepping forward into the flames, protecting the West at all costs,” Allison Miller, Coors Banquet Associate Marketing Manager told Beer & Beyond. “We recognize that the foundation needs our support more than ever, and we’re grateful for the brave souls who do their part to protect our forests, the wildlife and people who live nearby.”

Building on a seven-year relationship with the foundation, Coors’ donation this year, “will go toward providing immediate assistance to wildland firefighters and their families amid a 2020 wildfire season that has burned some 7.5 million acres, killed at least 35 people, destroyed hundreds of structures and caused extreme air pollution that has threatened the health of millions.”

Coors Banquet, which was born in Golden, Colorado in 1873 and is brewed there exclusively to this day, has long embraced its western roots.

The brand has a long history of supporting American firefighting efforts in the West. In 2014 Coors Banquet Beer began its support of the Wildland Firefighters Association and that commitment continues today.

We can get snarky when it comes to big beer companies here at American Craft Beer. So it’s only fair that that we showcase them when their actions deserve praise.

And Coors Banquet’s wildfire efforts, especially at this time, deserve praise.

To help support firefighting efforts in the West, Coors Banquet has also created limited-edition “Protect Our West” T-shirts which are available HERE.
