Beer Alert: New Barrel-Aged Ales And Winter Warmers

November is ON. Winter’s coming and American craft brewers are addressing the changing season with more exciting offerings you’re gonna want have around.

Something To Aspire To (Fort Collins, CO) – New Belgium Brewing and Four Roses Bourbon announced the 2021 version of a cutting-edge barrel-aged release that was first introduced in 2018. Crafted using a custom-built, proprietary infusion method, New Belgium Oakspire Bourbon Barrel Ale is a 9% ABV special release which pulls flavors from bourbon-steeped charred oak and marries it with a malty sweet Amber Ale.

“The process of brewing Oakspire is truly a brewer’s take on distilling, turning bourbon-soaked oak char into a unique and delicious beer,” said Astrid Moresco, Specialty Brand Manager at New Belgium Brewing. “We loved collaborating with Four Roses to bring Oakspire to life. An Abomination (Portland, OR) – Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), the first B Corp brewery in the Pacific Northwest, is releasing a Bourbon Barrel Aged take on its classic Winter Ale. Aged for over nine months in specially curated bourbon barrels, HUB Bourbon Barrel Aged Abominable Winter Ale is a MASSIVE 11.3% ABV limited release with complex vanilla, spice and citrus notes.

“Mr. Abom is out of hibernation and rolling the barrels around the brewery once again!” said Christian Ettinger, Founder & Brewmaster at Hopworks. “The bounty of warming vanilla and caramel flavors meld perfectly with the citrus and pine hop notes in this winter ale.”

Get Wrecked (Hood River, OR) – With the holidays nearing Full Sail Brewing is returning a seasonal favorite as part of its Strong Current Double IPA Series. A four-time Gold Medal winner, Full Sail Wreck the Halls Double IPA is an 8.5% ABV India Pale Ale / Winter Warmer hybrid that is brewed with rich pale and crystal malts and copious quantities of Centennial hops.
