It’s the craft beer story of 2018, not that Sierra Nevada cares…
What they cared about when they started brewing a charity IPA was simply to help the countless victims of California’s now infamous Camp Fire (many of them their own employees and neighbors).
But what started as an act of heartfelt compassion…when Sierra Nevada first announced that they’d be brewing a beer and donating 100% of its profits to organizations assisting victims of the devastating wildfire and invited the nation’s brewers to join them as well… has turned into an international effort the likes of which the craft beer industry has never seen.
As of our last count, 1277 brewers some as far away as Thailand and New Zealand had signed on to partake in the Resilience IPA charity effort and the number is growing daily.
All of AB InBev’s ten craft beer properties, from Goose Island to Wicked Weed, have signed on to lend their support…As has MillerCoors’ Hop Valley, Terrapin, Blue Moon and St Archer.
Each participating brewery will be brewing its own Resilience Butte County Proud IPA and donating 100% of its proceeds to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund, a charity that had already been seeded by a $100,000 donation from Sierra Nevada.
The beer will be available on draft at each brewery’s respective taproom, brewpub or restaurant.
And Sierra Nevada, which is brewing at least 4,000 barrels on its own, plans to package and distribute its version the beer in California on Dec. 17, then roll it out across the country in the following weeks.
Other participating breweries are planning to release the charity IPA in late December and throughout January. And you can support this worthy effort by dropping by one of these fine breweries and ordering a Resilience Butte County Proud IPA…
