Christmas is just days away and you’re going to need the right beer. And we’ve five widely available holiday brews guaranteed to keep things festive.
Santa’s Reserve 2020 (Newport, OR) – Christmas is almost here and the Rogue’s brew crew has crafted up something to celebrate…Freshly minted, or rather pepperminted, Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve 2020 is an 8.34% ABV Chocolate Milk Stout sweetened for the season with peppermint chocolate bark.
Reason For Jubilation (Boulder, CO) – While not a Christmas beer is the purest sense, Avery Brewing’s beloved winter limited release is truer to the season and more holiday-ready than most. Avoiding the obvious seasonal spicing, and opting instead for a perfect blend of five specialty malts, Avery Old Jubilation is a gorgeous mahogany 8.3% ABV English-Style Strong Ale with a hint of hazelnut, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee.
Tis the Season (Boston, MA) – The winter holidays are nearing and Samuel Adams is celebrating its arrival with a brand new cold-weather seasonal. Bold, complex and immensely aromatic, Samuel Adams Holiday White Ale is a pale gold 5.8% ABV unfiltered Witbier that’s delicately spiced with ground cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel.
Cheers For Christmas Beer (Downingtown, PA) – Just as with Boston Beer’s Holiday White Ale, Hefeweizens don’t immediately come to mind when you’re thinking Christmas beers. But that’s what makes Victory Brewing’s holiday offering so refreshingly perfect. Victory Winter Cheers Hazy Winter Ale is a rich and robust 6.7% ABV Bavarian-style Wheat Ale with a subtle holiday-profile that never overpowers.
Christmas Bells Are Ringing (Kalamazoo, MI) – A welcome holiday departure from all those cloyingly sweet Winter Warmers which tend to dominate at this time of year, Bell’s Brewery’s festive seasonal, that opts for drinkability over octane. Bell’s Christmas Ale is a 5.5% ABV Scottish Ale (they celebrate Christmas over there too!), that lets the Michigan-grown barley do all the talking and life Avery’s Old Jubilation, thankfully forgoes the sometimes cloying seasonal spices.
