Upland Brewing Plans For Huge Brewery, Beer Garden And Bike Shop In Indy
If you thought the craft beer biz was contracting you wouldn’t know that from Upland’s ambitious new plans to bring their brand to Indianapolis in a BIG way.

Bloomington, Indiana–based Upland Brewing has announced plans to open a brewery, designer restaurant that will also be home to a lifestyle bicycle shop in Indy’s trendy Fountain Square neighborhood, an area rich with Hoosier history, a vibrant music & art scene and an ever-growing community of small businesses that the brewery found to be “a perfect for their culture and values.”
“The space felt like home the moment we found it — surrounded by art, music, history, and quick access to the cultural trail for cycling around the city.” said David Bower, Upland Chief Growth Officer
In their announcement Upland detailed impressive plans that include a 13,000 square foot brewery focused on innovation and barrel aging, an immersive interior beer hall experience, a huge outdoor beer garden, an open kitchen, and an on-site brewery.
And according to Pete Batule, Upland President & COO the brewery’s new facility represents a further commitment to Indianapolis…
“Expanding our brewing operations to Indy will be a perfect complement to our Bloomington-based Wood Shop Sour Ale & West Side Production Breweries. This new site will allow us to further experiment and challenge ourselves creatively.”
With a total of 26 lines and at least 10 barrel-aged & small batch beers on tap, we will provide our guests with front row access to our creative process.”
And upping the lifestyle factor, Upland has partnered with Grey Goat Bicycle Company who will be opening a full-service hub to the brewery’s new facility…“Bikes & beer are a match made in heaven, and the easy access to the cultural trail makes this a perfect fit,” said Brian Gootee, Owner of Gray Goat Bicycle Co.
Add to that the beer hall’s a 225-seat open kitchen built around a rotating menu featuring local ingredients, hearty smoked meats, ancient grains, fresh vegetables and lots of vegetarian options and you’ve a beer-fueled lifestyle location In Indy’s Fountain Square that sure to become one of the region’s most exciting craft beer destinations when it opens next spring.
