Love him or loathe him, Donald Trump has left an undeniable mark on the beer world. His name might not appear in the style guidelines, but in the history of political beers, few figures have inspired more ferment.

What’s striking is how many of these beers weren’t about Trump himself so much as what he represented—whether it was a chance to satirize, protest, or simply grab headlines. For craft brewers, who thrive on creativity and cultural relevance, Trump became as much a marketing hook as a political figure.

And here’s a look at some of the most notable “Trump beers” and the stories behind them.

Dump The Trump American IPA – Behemoth Brewing (New Zealand)

Behemoth’s Dump Trump IPA was a 6.5% ABV American India Pale Ale that the Aukland brewery claimed was uber-hoppy thanks to “uge” amounts of protest hops. When Behemoth Brewing first introduced Dump the Trump IPA in 2016, its Facebook page was besieged by Pro-Trump groups who left negative reviews that did affect the brewery’s previously favorable ratings.

Trump Golden Ale – Dock Street Brewing (Philadelphia, PA)

Back in 2016, as Trump’s presidential campaign gained steam, Dock Street Brewing decided to have a little fun. They released Trump Golden Ale, a light, easy-drinking beer that carried just enough bite to match its namesake. The brewery leaned into satire with the marketing, portraying it as a “golden” beer for a candidate who couldn’t stop talking about gold. It sold quickly as both a novelty and a political statement.

Trump IPA – Cape Ann Brewing (Gloucester, MA)

Massachusetts’ Cape Ann Brewing released a small-batch IPA during the 2016 election cycle that poked fun at Trump’s polarizing campaign rhetoric. The beer leaned heavily into hop bitterness, a not-so-subtle nod to the sharp tone of Trump’s speeches. For Cape Ann, it was less about making a political stand and more about grabbing attention in a crowded beer market.

Chinga Tu Pelo – 5 Rabbit Cervecería (Chicago, IL)

Perhaps the most famous “Trump beer” wasn’t even brewed for him—it was brewed against him. In 2015, Chicago’s 5 Rabbit Cervecería had been contracted to brew a house beer for Trump Tower Chicago. After Trump made derogatory remarks about Mexican immigrants, the Latin-owned brewery cut ties immediately. They renamed the beer Chinga Tu Pelo (Spanish for “F*** Your Hair”) and re-released it as a protest brew. It became a symbol of resistance, widely embraced by craft beer fans and immigrant-rights supporters alike.

Make America Grape Again – Evil Twin Brewing (Brooklyn, NY)

Evil Twin has never shied away from tongue-in-cheek beer names, and during Trump’s presidency, they released Make America Grape Again. A play on Trump’s campaign slogan, this was actually a grape-infused IPA. The name was cheeky, the beer was genuinely creative, and it highlighted how craft brewers often use current events to inspire limited releases.

Trump Pilsner – Ravens Brewing (British Columbia, Canada)

North of the border, Ravens Brewing rolled out Trump Pilsner in the late 2010s. Marketed with tongue firmly in cheek, it was a clean, traditional pilsner with branding that leaned into caricature. While some Canadian drinkers bought it as a gag, others saw it as a way to poke fun at their southern neighbor’s politics.
