St. Patrick's Day is when we celebrate the patron saint of Ireland. However many of the traditions surrounding this widely celebrated holiday remain largely a mystery to most...And ACB is here to put an end to that.

News like this usually drops on a Monday or Friday...So we weren't totally surprised when our friends at Brewbound broke the news that Joey Redner had decided to sell a majority stake in his Cigar City, Florida's largest independent brewery, to Fireman Capital.

We blame the industry for this... It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates - things were pretty much done. But clearly all that's changed.

So here's some of what's happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying yourself.

As the Macro beer companies know all too well, marketing matters. And it matters in the craft beer business as well. Quality should, of course, be the number one priority for any brewery to be successful. But craft beer consumers also make decisions based on brand identity...

We don't often write about restaurants here at ACB... Food and cooking are hardly our area of expertise and besides it's all we can do keeping up with the American craft beer scene. That's why I was a little perplexed when Dorothy Hornbeck invited me out to Northern Virginia to check out a new craft beer restaurant that's been generating a lot of buzz...  

It's time to tap our the nineteenth state on the list. The Pine Tree State, Maine, ranks 42nd in total population (roughly 1.3 million) and houses 52 craft breweries as of 2014 (roughly 60+ today) who are represented by the Maine Brewers Guild. The state ranks 20th in total breweries and 6th in breweries per capita as of 2014, according to the Brewers Association.
