This seven-day craft beer celebration (August 11th-18th) is taking place all over Washington, DC with the city’s breweries, bars, and restaurants presenting 180 events you can partake in. There will be something for everyone, including a Potomac River beer cruise and a multitude of beer dinners, special tastings, and musical events, so you don’t want to miss this. , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 9, 2013After weeks of mindless CGI leaden popcorn releases, a science fiction movie with some pedigree will be opening this weekend. Elysium is Director Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to District 9, which came out of nowhere in 2009 to become one of the year’s most potent surprises.Set in the year 2154, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, Elysium stars Matt Damon as a man who takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

The Surf ‘n’ Suds Beer Festival is an inaugural celebration of two of the Golden State’s favorite pastimes: surfing and drinking beer. Presented by DEEP Surf Magazine, this Saturday (August 10th) beerganza will feature more than 40 breweries and ridiculous amounts of beer. It’s all taking place down by the ocean in sunny Carpinteria,California, and there will be music as well as local surfboard shapers showing off their latest designs. , The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – August 9, 2013Hot on the heels of last week’s Lollapalooza, there’s no bigger or better musical event happening anywhere this weekend than San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival. This year’s festival is three days (August 9th – 11th) of spectacular music and features a mind-blowing array of artists as varied as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, Phoenix and Nine Inch Nails. Roanoke, Virginia will be presenting the 16th annual Microfestivus this Saturday (8/10) and it sounds like too much fun. It’s all taking place downtown at Elmwood Park from noon to 6 PM and will feature more than 50 of the nation’s best breweries and 130+ beers to enjoy.
