, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – October 30, 2013Bluejacket Officially Arrives (Washington, DC) – Bluejacket, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s much anticipated new production brewery, officially opened its doors last night. This spectacular 5,000-sq-foot facility, housed in a former boiler factory, has been brilliantly reconfigured in such a way that the brewery itself now towers over The Arsenal, an independently run beer-centric restaurant and bar on Bluejacket’s ground floor. Opening night featured 20 Bluejacket beers on tap and an additional five on cask. Congratulations are due to our friends, NRG’s Beer Director Greg Engert and Bluejacket’s Head Brewer Megan Parisi, for their part in bringing together a dream that began more than five years ago. Nice house!

Burglary at Great Lakes (Cleveland, OH) – Vandals reportedly burglarized the Great Lakes Brewing Company Monday night, causing thousands of dollars in damage according to wkyc.com. The unidentified hooded threesome reportedly stole 500 feet of copper electrical cable and they remain at large.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – October 30, 2013Sky Hags Converge on Airways (Kent, WA) – Our friends at Airways Brewing are celebrating their third anniversary with a Halloween Party (perfect) and a Sky Hag costume contest (even better). If you’re familiar with Airways, you know that the Sky Hag is the character that graces their Sky Hag IPA label and she’s a legend up that way. So on Halloween (3-10 pm), their Brewery & Tap Room will be serving up Sky Hag IPA on cask, and a rare keg of her sister, the Ol’ Wooden Hag (Sky Hag IPA on toasted oak) to celebrate their three years in business. They’ll also be hosting a Sky Hag look-alike competition that promises to be totally off the hook!

Big Plans Indeed (Minneapolis, MN) – Indeed Brewing Company beer will soon be available to more of its fans around Minnesota. In response to the overwhelming demand for its locally crafted beer, the company has announced plans to increase its production capacity and distribution area. Indeed is currently the fastest-growing brewery in Minnesota and is poised to become one of the 10 largest breweries in the state.

Shocker – Georgia Legislators Consider Doing the Right Thing! (Atlanta. GA) – In a concerning departure from form, Georgia State legislators might actually consider doing the right thing for their citizens. OnlineAthens is reporting that a Senate committee was formed last week to study a change in law that would allow brewpubs in Georgia to sell growler refills and distiller visitors to enjoy larger samples. The five-man panel is expected to issue its finding by the end of this year.

A Rumor Mill Release You Want to Look Out For

San Francisco’s Anchor Brewing Company has announced the fifth release in their popular Zymaster series and it sounds intriguing. Harvest One American Pale Ale is a 7.2% ABV American Pale brewed using an unnamed hop variety that lends this brew its distinct bitterness and lively aroma. Look for this beer to be available now on draft and in 22 oz. bombers in select California markets and to roll out nationally over the next couple of months.
