, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – December 12, 2012Hangar 24 Goes Both Ways! (Redlands, CA) – Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, has decided to take their packaging “both ways.” With the release of Helles Lager and Orange Wheat, Hangar 24 becomes the first Southern California craft brewery to both can and bottle their beer.

1988 Was A Very Good Year (Bend, OR) – 25 years ago, a number of America’s most successful craft breweries were just getting going. Deschutes Brewery is working with four other craft breweries founded in 1988 (North Coast Brewing Co., Rogue Brewery, Goose Island Beer Co. and Great Lakes Brewing Co.) to create a selection of commemorative beers to celebrate their shared 25th anniversary. Deschutes will be collaborating with North Coast and Rogue on a Barley Wine release scheduled for March. Then they’ll be working with Great Lakes on a Smoked Imperial Porter release scheduled for May. And in the fourth quarter, they’ll be working with Goose Island to release their collaborative Belgian-Style Strong Golden Ale

Say Hello to the New Kids In Town (Washington, DC) – Experienced homebrewer, Justin Cox, is teaming up with longtime friend and accomplished commercial brewer Will Durgin to bring the District of Columbia fresh craft beer. Atlas Brew Works plans to install its 20 barrel brew house in Northeast DC and begin producing unique local brews in the first quarter of 2013. Atlas Brew Works’ beer portfolio will include American style craft ales and lagers along with an extensive sour and barrel-aging program. Will Durgin comes to Atlas via Telegraph Brewing Company in Santa Barbara, CA, where he became Head Brewer in 2009 – making him the youngest Head Brewer in the State of California at the time. In addition to being an award-winning homebrewer, Justin Cox is now Founder & CEO of Atlas Brew Works.

Yet Another Thing You Can Blame Sandy For (Milton, DE) – Hurricane Sandy wrecked havoc along the East Coast, inflicting unprecedented damage on the New Jersey and New York shorelines. And though Delaware avoided major problems, projects like Dogfish Head Brewery’s expansion have been delayed by the storm, reports the capegazzette.com. Dogfish Head Brewery’s Sam Calagione said the hurricane messed with the brewery’s timeline and that they are now looking to May 2013 to complete their planned expansion, which includes adding a new warehouse.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – December 12, 2012Ska Brewing is announcing the second release in their Seasonal Stout series: Hibernal Vinifera Stout. It’s an oak-aged foreign-style stout that is brewed with Malbec grapes and it sounds awesome! In keeping with the series’ solstice and equinox release dates, the beer will be released on December 21st, the winter solstice.
