Skateboard Olympian Crafts Beer With Black Plague Brewing

, Skateboard Olympian Crafts Beer With Black Plague BrewingAt the ripe ‘young’ age of 26 Nyjah Huston is already a skateboarding legend. Over his illustrious 15-year career, the Olympic athlete, six-time world champion and 13-time X Games gold medalist has swiftly progressed the sport of professional street skating since becoming the youngest-ever X Games competitor at age 11.

And now the skateboarding prodigy, entrepreneur, and born risk-taker, has teamed up with Oceanside, California’s Black Plague Brewing to craft his own signature beer.

Founded in 2015 by Jordan Hoffart along with Jarred Doss, Black Plague has long channeled the skateboarder ethos and lifestyle.

After all, Hoffart is a professional skateboarder who has played a major role in the skateboard industry for over 10 years. He has competed and won televised championships all over the world, and worked with major media networks such as Fox & NBC Sports.

And co-Founder, Jarred Doss is equally SoCal. He’s a street artist / entrepreneur and the CEO at Black Plague where he oversees all brewery operations including branding, packaging, web & social, facility design, merchandise & apparel.

So as far as skateboarder street cred…Black Plague’s got it….But it also has beer cred to spare…

In 2019 Black Plague took home a gold medal at the San Diego International Beer Competition for its American-style Hazy Pale Ale, Hazy Scandal. A big win, in an uber-hot category, in a region with nearly 130 cutting-edge breweries.

Now the beer…

Brewed with Simcoe and Citra hops and  dry-hopped with massive additions of Nelson and Simcoe Cryo, Black Plague Nyjah Hazy IPA is a 7% ABV Hazy India Pale Ale with intense flavors of papaya, ripe apricot, and traces of melon and citrus.

According to Black Plague’s ’s mantra, the craft brewer represents the misfits, underdogs, rebels, rule-breakers, and those who embrace their true passion and Nyjah Huston certainly fits that bill.

In addition to Huston, the brewery has worked numerous skateboarding pros in the past including the legendary Tony Hawk, Matt Hensley, Matt Berger, Manny Santiago, and many more.
