While the jury’s still out as to whether recycled water makes for better beer…It could make for a better world.
Here’s the deal…
A Singapore brewery has debuted a beer made from 100% recycled water, the first of its kind in the country and one of a growing number of breweries around the world exploring more sustainable brewing practices.
The new beer which is redundantly named Newbrew is a limited edition American Pale Ale made using the recycled water known as ‘Newater’, Singapore’s own brand of recycled water.
Crafted by Singapore microbrewery Brewerkz with the help of the National Water Agency PUB (you gotta love that acronym) the beer’s release commemorates the 10thanniversary of the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) according to the Straits Times.
SIWW managing director Bernard Tan was clearly excited that the commemorative beer turned out decently and that nobody got sick after drinking it…
“We are happy to partner Brewerkz to develop a special, one-off brew that we can all safely toast. We look forward to another decade of excellence at SIWW,”
But even though this Pale Ale might point to the future, Brewerkz doesn’t plan to commercially produce the beer in the near future.
