Russian River To Bottle Pliny The Younger In 2020

, Russian River To Bottle Pliny The Younger In 2020At a time when many “event beers’’ have cooled off considerably, Russian River’s Piney the Younger release is still one of the world’s most heralded beer events.

Sold for only two weeks (or until it runs out) every February, this ever-evolving India Pale Ale has enshrined Russian River Brewing as one of Americas’ most important craft operations.

Part of the beer’s allure, and the reason the Triple IPA’s release draws visitors from 42 states and 14 countries, is that it has never been bottled…

At least until now.

In a Christmas Eve post Russian River co-Founder, Natalie Cilurzo made the big announcement…

Exciting News Regarding Pliny the Younger 2020- Never Say Never!

It is important for us to find ways to add to our guest’s experience, especially for those who come year after year.

We are excited to announce that Pliny the Younger 2020 will include something we have never done before, and said we would likely never do.

For the first time ever, Pliny the Younger will be available in our signature 510ml bottles during the release at both our Santa Rosa and Windsor breweries!

Each guest will be able to buy 2 bottles which we can track by a fourth tab on the wristband they receive upon entering the pubs.

Pliny the Younger bottles will only be available to guests who come for the full experience in our brewpubs and will not be sold in the gift shops.

Younger bottles will not be distributed, while draft distribution begins the second week of February.

About Pliny the Youger…, Russian River To Bottle Pliny The Younger In 2020

“Pliny the Younger is considered a “triple” IPA, simply meaning that it is higher in alcohol and has tons of hops. The alcohol should finish at about 10.25%, although it is remarkably dry for the amount of malt used in the recipe. It is loaded with hop flavors, bitterness, and aromatics.”

Russian River first brewed the Triple IPA in 2005 as a winter seasonal built upon the brewery’s Pliny the Elder recipe pushing the envelope with malt, hops, and alcohol to audacious levels that had never been seen before.

It is always brewed only once a year and released the first Friday in February, rain or shine. This year’s beer has yet to be brewed, and details about the release are still being developed.
