Not Beer – But Still Funny (And Smart)
A disaster befell KFC in the United Kingdom last week. The Kentucky Fried Chicken chain ran out of chicken forcing most of its 900 locations to temporarily shut down! And although that bizarre incident alone was funny…it was KFC’s humorous apology that people are talking about today.
Brilliantly crafted by Mother London, the ad which ran in two of the country’s leading newspapers, apologizes for the ordeal while admitting that “a chicken restaurant without any chicken” is “not ideal.”
But what really grabs the readers’ attention is the playful reimagining of the chain’s logo which reordering “KFC” to read “FCK,” and deftly tapped the sentiments of both fast food fans and company executives to the chicken shortage…
Both funny and smart and who doesn’t appreciate that? And lessons can be learned by how KFC approached things…
After all, nobody’s perfect and it’s not like the beer biz doesn’t have a reason to apologize from time to time…
