Newbies – New Releases That You Want to Look Out For – October 23, 2014
So many beers, So little time… We’ve been deluged with a multitude of Pumpkin beer releases lately and now they’re fighting for shelf space with Winter Ales. We’ve got that battle for you – and we’ve some new offerings from Deschutes and Silver City Brewing that you’ll need to run down.

What Are They Smoking? (Escondido, CA) – Stone has just released another take on their classic Smoked Porter and this one’s perfect for the fall. Stone Smoked Porter w/Chocolate & Orange Peel is a 5.9% ABV Smoked Porter with orange peel added during post-fermentation to bring about a citrusy aroma and tangy flavor. The cocoa flavors come from the dark malts and the addition of chocolate from Los Angeles-based ChocoVivo. This citrus-rich chocolaty iteration of their classic year-round started rolling out this week and you can find it in 22 oz. bombers as well as on draft.
Silver City Brown Out (Bremerton, WA) – The Silver City Brewing Company has a newbie that caught our attention. Silver City B-Town Sour Brown is a 6% ABV red wine barrel-aged Saison that’s nutty, toasty, and slightly sour. This limited-release Belgian-style Ale is out there now – but won’t be forever – so you know what to do.

Winterhook at 30 (Seattle, WA) – Redhook has been brewing their popular winter seasonal for going on three decades now and this year marks thirty for Winterhook Ale. Like its predecessors, Winterhook #30 is dark and rich in color. Its Pale and Munich malts combine with Cascade, Centennial, and Nugget hops to deliver a 6% ABV winter seasonal that is bright, warm, and smooth.
