Summer is waning and American craft brewers are addressing things with a smart roster of  West Coast-Style IPAs (some new, some classic), that you’re gonna want to have around as we look to fall.

Double Trouble (Hershey, PA) – With more craft beer fans than ever gravitating to bigger and bolder versions of their favorite beers, Tröegs Independent Brewing has announced an amped up take of their popular year-round Perpetual IPA.

The newest addition to the brewery’s rotating Once-a-Year Series, which also includes favorites like Mad Elf, Nugget Nectar, and Nimble Giant, Tröegs Double Perpetual IPA is a MASSIVE 9.5% ABV West Coast-Style India Pale Ale crafted with unapologetic amounts of Cascade, Chinook, Nugget and Citra hops.

Like many of Tröegs new beers, Double Perpetual came up through the brewery’s small-batch Scratch Series, where they experiment with ingredients and techniques until they hit on something special.

“One of the ways we share our creative process is through our Scratch Series,” said brewmaster John Trogner. “Over the years, it’s served as a testing ground for potential new beers, and one of the first ones to come out of the Scratch Series was Perpetual IPA.”

A West Coast Classic (Paso Robles, CA) – Since this “New Beer Alert” is all about the best West Coast-Style IPAs, we’d be remiss to not highlight a Firestone Walker classic, that remains one of our favorite craft beers.

The recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival, Firestone Union Jack is a 7% ABV West Coast Style IPA  with pronounced pineapple, citrus, and pine aromas, ntense flavors of grapefruit and tangerine, all balanced by a hint of malt sweetness.

Union Jack is the IPA that helped blaze the trail for the revolutionary West Coast style. Named for the British Lion (David Walker) who co-founded the brewery along with his brother-in-law Adam Firestone, Union Jack is hopped to high hell yet eminently balanced from start to finish.

Beastly (Petaluma, CA) – Lagunitas Brewing has a fairly new year-round addition that elegantly melds the best aspects of both the Hazy IPA and West Coast India Pale Ale beer styles. Brewed with not just a hint of orange-ness, but a whole orange, Lagunitas The Beast of Both Worlds is a hefty 8% ABV India Pla Ale with undertones of mango and pineapple that are offset by a West Coast dankness.
