Summer is ON and American craft brewers are addressing the season with intriguing new offerings you’re gonna want to have around.
Instant Vacation (Greeley, CO) – WeldWerks Brewing is renowned for its Pastry Sours which makes word of this hop-forward IPA all the more interesting. Brewed to transport you out of your mundane daily tasks and into a tropical paradise, WeldWerks Vaca Everyday is an 8.8% ABV Hazy IPA with huge coconut, tangerine, and grapefruit notes, plus a slight hint of vanilla and cedar.
“Vacay Everyday is a really awesome beer that I have enjoyed since we started brewing it last year,” says WeldWerks Head Brewer Skip Schwartz. “The tropical notes are very intense so it’s almost like you’re drinking a hoppy version of a pina colada.”
Lemon Aid (Minneapolis, MN / Milwaukee, WI) – Indeed Brewing has a bright new summer release that we can’t wait to get our hands on. Built on a solid base of Amarillo hops, sea salt, orange blossom honey, orange and lime peel, Indeed Brightside Sea Salt and Lemon Lager is a 5.2% ABV summertime pleaser with a bright, refreshing mouthfeel that lingers.
This beer came out of a partnership with a badass seafood restaurant in Minneapolis (shout-out to Smack Shack!),” said Ryan Bandy, Indeed Brewing Company’s Director of Experience. “The ocean salt was an inspiration—how it stays with you in your hair, on your lips, on your skin. When we were doing R&D for Brightside, we were shocked at how good salt was in the lager. It makes sense in hindsight—salt acts as a magnifying glass, intensifying flavors.”
A Wild Ride (Boston, MA) – Samuel Adams has returned something a summertime favorite that was inspired by the classic Bavarian-style Radler. Basically Radlers are lagers mixed with fruit juices and its history is wild….
The term Radler originates with a drink called Radlermass (literally “cyclist liter”) which was originally created by an innkeeper. During the great cycling boom of the Roaring Twenties, the innkeeper created a bicycle trail from Munich, through the woods, which led directly to his drinking establishment. On a beautiful June day in 1922, a reported “13,000 cyclists” crashed his party and running out of beer, he blended it 50/50 with a lemon soda he could never seem to get rid of, and the rest is history.
Brewed to mimic a Radler, Samuel Adams Porch Rocker is a 4.5% ABV Helles Lager brewed with a blend of fresh lemons to create a crisp, refreshing and slightly tart finish.
