Most band beers, are more co-branding exercises than they are a reflection of a real passion for brewing (at least on the band’s part), but what British Rock legend Iron Maiden has been doing is different.

And that difference probably comes down to Iron Maiden’s lead singer Bruce Dickinson is very-much a renaissance man, a pilot and seasoned brewer himself, who has been chosen to make a keynote address at the 2019 Craft Brewers in Denver.

In 2013 Dickinson personally designed and developed Trooper, a collaboration between Iron Maiden and Robinsons Brewery, a partnership  that still continues, that went on to become an international success.

That beer led to many serious brewing projects including the amped up Trooper 666 with its 6.66% ABV and 2017’s Hallowed a 6% ABV Belgian Ale that took its name from the song Hallowed Be They Name, which first appeared on the band’s bestselling 1982 album The Number of the Beast.

And on May 9th British rock music icons Iron Maiden and UK-based Robinsons brewery are marking 10 years of making beers together.

To celebrate this milestone, and a line of band-themed beers that has sold 35 million pints worldwide, Iron Maiden and the Robinsons team are introducing Trooper X, a massive 10% ABV Imperial Stout which was designed by Bruce Dickinson alongside Robinsons’ head brewer Martyn Weeks.

“Trooper X is packed full of roasted malt flavors which perfectly balance the complex and delicious aromas,” said Weeks.  “This is the ultimate super smooth sharing beer which, if you can resist drinking straight away, will mature in the bottle and get even better with age.”

Trooper X, which comes in an elegant 660ml bottle and a stylish presentation box, will be available to order online from IronMaiden.com.

Dickinson has also taken the Trooper brand worldwide, identifying like-minded brewers overseas who can bring unique local versions of Trooper to the legions of Maiden beer fans around the world according to Blabbermouth.

Iron Maiden has partnered with BrewDog in the US, Nils Oscar in Sweden, Bodebrown and Nomad in Australia.

I’m immensely proud that Trooper has reached this milestone, added Dickinson. “To get to 10 years is a brilliant achievement, and I’m having a great time working with our partners around the world. Thanks to our fans, Trooper has become a permanent feature with beer lovers around the world, and it’s still growing.”
