Free Beer For Runners In The UK

Running and beer has long been a thing, almost as big as beer and dogs. And now New Balance is rewarding runners with free beer at a new London pub.

New Balance, one of the world’s leading running shoes manufacturers, has teamed up with fitness app Strava to open The Runaway Pub as runners prepare for the London Marathon on April 28^th.

At the Runaway pub, runners pay with the miles they have logged on their Runaway Card, not actual currency.

Four different challenges will be available to complete from February to April 2019 with milestones ranging from a 13 miles trek to a full 10k.

And you don’t even have to successfully meet those goals to start scoring free beer…

A 50% completion of each challenge will be rewarded with two beers each for you and a friend, while running the full length will provide you and a friend with three cold ones apiece.

Speaking with Runners World Samantha Matthews, Senior Marketing Manager at New Balance UK & Ireland, could barely contain her unbridled enthusiasm…

 “We’re excited to open our very first New Balance pub and look forward to welcoming runners to the bar to exchange their miles for pints. The Runaway pub brings our Everybody’s Race campaign to life and aims to empower runners throughout their weeks of training, offering an escape and reward when needed and a hub for the running community to come together and support each other.”

Located in the heart of London, The Runaway is part of the New Balance Everybody’s Race campaign, a program designed to support marathon runners through their training.

And upstairs at The Runaway, you’ll find a fully stocked bar and pub setting. There’s also a strength training session, downstairs, where runners will find a gym and weights area to stretch and work out.
