This summer Cooperstown New York’s Brewery Ommegang looks to their history for the inspiration their annual celebration of Belgium beer, on August 3rd and 4th. And they’ll be theming their annual Belgium Comes to Cooperstown event off the original Ommegang of 1549.
The first Ommegang was a celebration welcoming Emperor Charles the Fifth to Brussels and the citywide party is still held every year.
And while the emperor won’t be in attendance in Cooperstown this summer, nearly 100 Belgian and Belgian-style breweries will be… each one pouring their best against the idyllic backdrop of Ommegang’s brewery, which was itself modeled after farmstead breweries found in Belgium.
As always, the festival promises more than just great beer…and with Ommegang’s newly renovated farmstead, it’s going to be an even headier pastoral experience.
There will be artisan food vendors serving up goodie, non-stop live music that pairs well with serious beer, and a chance to camp under the stars alongside some of the world’s leading brewers.
