It’s genius to invite a hip group like Franz Ferdinand to put together a playlist that will be played at all its bars…and it’s only going to make other big bands want to sign on.
Here’s the deal…
BrewDog’s Mixtape is the punk brewer’s answer to lame background music that can put a damper on any bar experience, especially when you’re drinking serious beer.
So starting this month BrewDog has pledged to bring the background into the foreground” – and they’ve invited some serious talent to help them craft the BrewDog Mixtape; a playlist curated exclusively for all its BrewDog Bars.
And the first month’s Mixtape has been compiled by none other than Franz Ferdinand a band, that like BrewDog, began in Scotland and took on the world.
About Franz Ferdinand
Named after the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination eventually led to World War I, Franz Ferdinand (the band) formed in Glasgow in 2002.
And one of the band’s first singles “Take Me Out” became an international hit and went on to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
Franz Ferdinand then released their self-titled debut studio album 2004 and it was a big hit too., wining a 2004 Mercury Prize in the UK and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album that same year.
The band is now five albums deep having released their most recent album, Always Ascending, in 2018.
About The BrewDog Mixtapes
BrewDog’s first Mixtape, the collection that Franz Ferdinand did, will debut at all of the brewery’s UK bars at exactly the same moment, 6pm on Thursday February 21st. And BrewDog is clearly excited that the band signed on….
“We are psyched that the debut monthly playlist is going to be the brainchild of Franz Ferdinand – a band that surely need no introduction.”
“With their fifth album, Always Ascending, having been released last year they have collated an incredible Mixtape that will be featured in our UK BrewDog Bars over the next month – alongside a selection of tracks from the guys themselves.”
And when Franz Ferdinand’s Mixtape residency ends, their playlist will be made available for download so that you can listen to it whenver you want…
And there will be more Mixtapes from Glasgow’s finest. Artists like The Fratellis, and Reverend and the Makers will be crafting new playlists in the future for BrewDog’s extensive network of bars.
