BrewDog introduced a gold beer can promotion back in 2023 which turned into a nightmare for the company, and no, the gold cans commemorating Miller Lite’s 50 year run, don’t use real gold. But you can still win $500 in beer money and other cool stuff.
Here’s the deal…
On May 1st Miller Lite announced that it was celebrating it’s 50 year run, with special gold cans, that no doubt, will stand out on retail shelves.
Along with the special gold packaging which should shine brightly will on shelves through July.
Miller Lite is also launching a consumer sweeps, where 21+ consumers can enter to win $500 in prepaid cards (beer money!), and 50th anniversary hats made by American Needle, a home to classic American apparel since 1918.
Running now through July, 21+ consumers can enter by scanning the QR codes on the 24-ounce cans or on the packaging of the gold 12 packs of 16-ounce cans. They can also enter by going HERE. So yeah this beer sweepstakes couldn’t be easier.
“To celebrate Miller Lite turning 50, we wanted to do something that would stop people in their tracks,” Associate Marketing Manager Olivia Jameson told Beer & Beyond. “This is the same beer you know and love, the one that’s been a staple at parties and tailgates but given a great anniversary spin. The gold can is the perfect collectible to celebrate Miller Lite turning 50 years old.”
While the gold cans are new, Jameson adds that the color has always been a fixture for the brand so this campaign was an easy progression.
“Gold has been an integral part of our design since the beginning,” says Jameson, pointing out that the color is used for the barley and hops on the brand’s logo.
Miller Lite’s gold can promotion are just one part of this year’s 50th anniversary. On March 20th kicked off the celebration with “Legendary Stories Start with a Lite. the ad shares personal Miller Lite fan stories and feature the unmistakable narration by actor Christopher Walken.
