beer, Beer Buzz – Half Acre Beer, Friedrich Nietzsche, Belmont Fermentorium And More! The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening in the world of craft beer, while you were drinking you’re way through a long Labor Day weekend.

Beervana Bombshell (Portland, OR) – Probably the biggest beer story of last week dropped with half of the nation already out the door for a long Labor Day weekend.

As we reported last Friday, San Diego-based Modern Times Beer announced that they’ll be opening a new brewing hub in Portland. And that they’d be moving into the space currently occupied by one of the city’s most acclaimed breweries, The Commons.

Modern Times CEO and founder Jacob McKean announced that his company had in fact signed a lease agreement with founder Mike Wright, who owns the 10,000 sq. ft. site where The Commons is located, and would be launching a new operation in Portland’s Belmont neighborhood under the Belmont Fermentorium banner in January 2018

McKean stressed that his company was in no way acquiring The Commons but simply moving into their current space.

What this all means for Mike Wright and the future of The Commons’ in Portland is open to speculation…But we can only hope that it allows the brewery some stability going forward as they too are a terrific brewing operation that has done some incredible things

Half Acre has been brewing the majority of its beer at its 60,000 square foot Bowmanvile production facility for the past two years, but opening the attached taproom and restaurant in the space has proved to be an arduous process.

It will be business as usual over at Half Acre’s existing Lincoln Avenue taproom but the new facility at 2050 W Balmoral Avenue addition will simply offer their fans another option, and one with roughly double the seating and an outdoor beer garden.
