August is ON…And brewers are addressing the warm weather with a variety of intoxicating offerings that pair brilliantly with the late summer season.
Blissful Drinking (Longmont, CO) – Oskar Blues Brewery has announced the latest release from its Can-O-Bliss IPA Series. Brewed using an international blend of hops including Motueka, Amarillo, Mandarina Bavaria, Citra, Azacca and Experimental Hop 06277, Oskar Blues Can-O-Bliss Citrus IPA is a 7.2% ABV India Pale Ale with kaffir lime, bergamot, tangerine and yuzu flavors alongside more typical grapefruit and orange notes.
Air Raid! (Raleigh, NC) – Big Boss Brewing has a new Air Raid Series release that’s worth chasing down. A hoppy nod to the brewery’s North Carolina home turf that was brewed using Riverbend’s Carolina Rye Heirloom Malt, Big Boss Miss NC is a 6.5% double dry-hopped Hazy IPA with massive melon, papaya, mango and grapefruit notes.
Just Peachy (Quebec, Canada) – Unibroue has a new limited release available now south of the border for a limited time in select markets including CA, FL, MA, MI, Las Vegas, NV and Long Island, NY. Dry-hopped, single-fermented and boldly unfiltered, Unibroue Autre Chose Peach IPA is a 6% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with fresh peaches and Cascade, Galaxy, Citra and Lemondrop hops.
Peanut Butter Baby! (Dallas, TX) – First introduced last year as part of Lakewood Brewing’s Seduction Series, it disappeared in just 10 days and now they are bringing it back. Politely described “as the beer equivalent of a peanut butter cup,” Lakewood Peanut Butter Temptress is a 9.1% ABV Imperial Milk Stout brewed with dark, bittersweet cocoa, a hint of vanilla and sea salt.
A Sour Situation (Baltimore, MD) – DuClaw Brewing has a creamy, tart and sweet, new limited release hitting retail in August that’s available in 16oz can 4-packs. DuClaw Sour Me Peach Sherbet is a 5.5% ABV kettle sour made with fresh peaches and lactose that milkshakes things up. With distribution in 18 states and DC, DuClaw keeps things fresh by releasing new beers every eight weeks.
